The Northport-Bradenton-Sarasota Statistical Area became official recently when the Office of Management and Budget, an office of the US Federal Government, released its bulletin on the subject.

The City of North Port, FL has increased its population to become the largest city in Sarasota County, exceeding the population of both Sarasota and Venice in Sarasota County and Bradenton in Manatee County.

While we await the 2010 Census results for the area, it is expected that North Port has grown even larger. In 2009, the population of North Port FL had exceeded 55,000 people. By contrast, Bradenton was just over 54,000, Sarasota was a little over 53,000 and Venice just short of 22,000. North Port, FL, with the area’s highest population is ranked first in the government MSA title.

Charlotte Stone Crabs Christmas in July

Last Saturday the Stone Crabs had a fund raiser for the Salvation Army and The American Heart Association. There were over 6,000 fans in attendance to watch the Stone Crabs defeat the Blue Jays and donate to the cause. Here are some pictures from the event.
