2008: Charlotte County Year in Review
We received very exciting news in 2008. Punta Gorda was voted Best Healthy Places to Retire by U.S. News and World Report. The article raves about the weather and the many active lifestyles available here.
In 2008, we have seen some very good real estate deals close in Punta Gorda. It has been a fantastic purchasing season for single family homeowners, condo homeowners, and investors alike. If you are interested in purchasing a home in Punta Gorda or the Charlotte County area, it is still a fantastic time to buy with a large inventory and prices at record low levels.
Other exciting news this year, our Tampa Bay Rays won the American League Championship – hooray! In 2009, Suncoasteam Realty will be a major sponsor of the Tampa Bay Rays High A affliliate, the Stone Crabs who will play their games right here in Port Charlotte.
In December, there have been many events in Charlotte County. On December 6, the annual Lighted Boat Parade took place with fifty boats showing off their inventive decorating skills utilizing lights and moving lighted characters. Our neighbors had a beautiful display on their large sailing catamaran with huge lighted snowflakes hanging from their rigging. They also had the words “Let It Snow” displayed off each hull. Okay, so we don’t want any snow at our home here in Charlotte County, but it was a reminder of what the rest of the country was going through.
It was difficult during the last two weeks of the year, to let our families know we were experiencing 80+ degree temperatures at our home on Charlotte Harbor. We even swam in our pool on Christmas and New Year’s Day!
These first few days of 2009 have brought many of our neighbors, with gulf access canal homes, out on Charlotte Harbor. They have been enjoying cruising, fishing, or sailboat racing on these warm, sunny days. There was much revelry and fireworks at midnight at Fisherman’s Village on New Year‘s Eve. Also, there are many events planned for 2009 as well.
It is eighty-two degrees today. Now this is living the Florida lifestyle!
