Jack and Elvis
There was loads of fun last night in Port Charlotte with the Stone Crabs, Tampa Bay Rays’ High A affiliate. In an exciting 4-3 win, the team hosted a large crowd to enjoy a spectacular fireworks show and an enjoyable Elvis impersonator.
The Stone Crabs started the season off with an exciting win over the Bradenton Marauders. With a ninth inning rally, the Crabs sealed the victory and enjoyed a team celebration.
The winning hit was a well place drive by a new member of the Crabs, Mayo Acosta. Mayo did a fine job as designated hitter and if this is an indication, we look forward to a great season of clutch hitting.
Also showing his skill was retuning Crabs second baseman, Tyler Bortnick. Ty was all over the infield, making great plays and unbelievable stops! Unfortunately for us, if he keeps playing like that, he is not long for Port Charlotte!
The game was also attended by Stone Crabs’ owner, Cal Ripken who greeted fans and signed autographs.

On Saturday night, before the second to last game of the season and the big fireworks display, the Section 106 Gang had a tailgate party in the parking lot.
Jack was a grilling start. He made burgers, brats and we all enjoyed!

The Neale Family from England patiently waiting through a rain delay at Charlotte Sports Park. The family joined the 106 Club under the roof for the short delay, then sat with us to watch the Stone Crabs win 5-0 over the Blue Jays. One of the Neales was the junior announcer of the game… OK, mom and dad, remind me which son he was… and the rest of their names…
